How to paint a wall

Changing the color of your walls can truly add a touch of style and freshness to your home, and the secret to achieving a professional result lies in applying the paint correctly.

Whether you are a DIY expert or a beginner, by following these few and simple steps, you can transform your home's walls like a true professional!

You will need…

- A can of interior paint in your preferred Maibianco color;

- Maibianco kit;

- Maibianco primer;

- Painter's tape for clean lines;

- Fabric drop cloths to protect floors and furniture.

For thorough preparation…

  1. Clear the workspace by removing furniture from the room to have enough space for painting.

  2. Protect the floor and furniture by laying a protective cloth to avoid staining the floor and to protect furniture that is too heavy to move.

  3. Prepare the wall by identifying any imperfections such as flaky areas or small bumps. Fill them with putty or scrape off peeling paint to achieve a smooth surface. This step is essential for a smooth and professional finish.

  4. Use painter's tape to cover outlets, switches, and baseboards in the area to be painted. Make sure to align the tape carefully to get clean edges.

  5. Apply the primer with a roller, spreading an even layer on the walls and working it into the smaller crevices with a brush. Let the primer dry for a few hours before starting to paint.

To paint correctly…

  1. Stir the paint thoroughly until you get a uniform consistency.

  2. First, treat the corners and edges with a brush after taking the right amount of paint, lightly tapping the brush on the edge of the can to remove excess paint.

  3. Proceed by working on the main surfaces using a roller, dipping it in the paint, and starting to paint the wall with "W" or "M" movements to ensure even distribution.

  4. Let the first coat dry for a few hours before applying a second coat if necessary. Usually, two coats of paint are sufficient. Remove the painter's tape from the wall while the second coat is still fresh.

  5. Let it dry completely for at least 24 hours and admire your excellent work!
